The Miko

Name: Kikyō (with accent); Kikyou; Kikyo
Name Translation: Chinese bellflower
Age: 17 when she died
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Personality:

When Alive: When Kikyou was alive she was kind, yet extremely calm. You can pretty much describe her as being a calmer, more emotion-controlled, version of Kagome. She would never show weakness to anyone in order to keep herself and the Shikon no Tama safe from all sorts of youkai (and humans) that were after the Shikon no Tama.

Kikyou had a sad personality when she was alive. It was obvious that she longed to do things other girls her age would do. In episodes 147-148 (the Kaede special) there's a part where she walks by other teenage girls and sadly looks on as they put make-up on and do what all normal seventeen year old girls in that time would do.

When Dead, but walking the Earth: Needless to say, supposedly being killed by the man that she fell in love with and planned to spend her life with and being dead for fifty years changed Kikyou's personality. She no longer holds quite as much pity for others. When the villager that saw her about two episodes after she was reborn saw her taking in souls, she killed him. I think of Kikyou as being more missunderstood than "evil" though. It's not as if Kikyou wanted all that happened to happen. All that she originally wanted was to be normal and live a life with Inuyasha as humans.

Kikyou obviously isn't too fond of Kagome. But then again, who would be? You come back to life, believe the man you loved killed you, discover it wasn't him who killed you, and then notice that the man you fell in love with is off with another woman. Now here's a word for all Kikyou-haters: do you seriously think you would walk off all happy-happy if that happened to you? I seriously doubt it.

Then some people call her a person who plays on both sides of the ball game. That's not really true. Sure, she does things against both Inuyasha's group and Naraku's group, but she has her motives. She may not totally be on Inuyasha's group's side, but there is one thing for sure and that's that she's NOT on Naraku's side. As revieled to Inuyasha in a chapter released in December of 2004, she has a plan that will end up being Naraku's end.

Her Story: Kikyou, one of the most powerful mikos, was entrusted with the hard task of purifying and protecting the Shikon no Tama. Youkai upon youkai attacked her in hopes to obtain the jewel for themselves. Every one of them failed. But then, an interesting youkai showed up. A youkai that Kikyou couldn't kill. Inuyasha, the dog hanyou.

Kikyou and Inuyasha fell in love and made a deal that they would meet at dawn near Goshinboku. Kikyou arrived and Inuyasha wasn't there. She joked about how it was to be expected of Inuyasha to be late. She then walked over into a field and began to apply lipstick (that Inuyasha gave her, which was a gift to Inuyasha from Izayoi (his mother)), not noticing a youkai rapidly approaching her from behind.

Then the youkai slashed her shoulder. Kikyou fell to the ground, the lipstick flying through the air. The youkai, in the appearence on Inuyasha, grabbed the lipstick and crunched the shell containing it into pieces.

Kikyou, who was on the ground, bleeding, was shocked and heart broken that the man she loved did this. Right before he left to attack the other villagers, she screamed out to him, damning him.
